Constraint or restraint?

Wonder which one it is that keeps us from really saying what we want to say. Is it good manners or fear of repercussions? And on the other hand, ever wonder why some people can’t find the filter that belongs in the region between their brain and mouth? Is it anger that makes us want to lash out or justifiable good sense that makes us bite our tongues. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing but do we really truly have that freedom when we know that our words would cause pain or harm. Remember what Jennifer Aniston said about Brad? Something along the lines of him missing a “sensitivity chip”. I saw a wonderful quote about this that I want to share…

Ignore unconstructive, hurtful commentary. No one has the right to judge you. They might have heard your stories, but they didn’t feel what you were going through. No matter what you do, there will always be someone who thinks differently. So concentrate on doing what you know in your heart is right. What most people think and say about you isn’t all that important. What is important is how you feel about yourself.

Please be mindful of what you say…

Much love…

  1. Steffanie I really love this. You hit it right on the dot when you said “Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing but do we really truly have that freedom when we know that our words would cause pain or harm.”

Great post. I like that it was simple, quick, and to the point. But very effective. xoxo
